Revisiting the Nvidia GeForce Now leak one year later

All told, PlayStation fans with souped-up PCs will be eating well for at least the next year. Microsoft Halo 5: Guardians was a strong return to form for 343 Industries that's sorely missed on the PC platform. Gears 6 Halo 5: Guardians The first-party Microsoft games included on the list feels more like a reassurance than a confirmation. We've known for a while that Gears 6 is coming but Halo 5: Guardians would be a welcome addition.

Given the way things are going over at 343 Industries right now, it could use Halo 5: Guardians as a hail mary to try and appease the disappointed Halo fanbase. Square Enix A Final Fantasy 9 remake could be next after Final Fantasy 7. Final Fantasy 9 Remake Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster Square Enix had (emphasis on the "had") the wildest lineup of leaked games outside of Sony before the company went and confirmed the release of Chrono Cross Remaster, Tactics Ogre Remaster, and Kingdom Hearts 4 last year.

Now, all that's left from the once-massive list is the Final Fantasy 9 Remake and Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster.

The latter will likely come first, probably sometime later this year. We're more curious to find out if the former is true and how Square Enix will squeeze it into its schedule. Creative Business Unit I, where the original game's director, Hiroyuki Ito, belongs, is busy working on the next Kingdom Hearts title. On the other hand, Creative Business Unit III will likely provide post-launch support for Final Fantasy XVI and, of course, Yoshi-P's lovechild, Final Fantasy XIV.

The fanboy in us would love to see Creative Business Unit I take the lead on a faithful remake of the original Final Fantasy 9 game from the ground up.

Final Fantasy 9 is widely considered the best Final Fantasy 9 game by critics and fans alike. FF9 holds the franchise's highest rating on Metacritic at 94% with a 9.0 User Score. Besides, Square Enix is believed to be working on an FF9 anime series, so if that doesn't confirm that a remake is happening, we don't know what else will. Capcom Monster Hunter: Rise only recently came to Steam and the Epic Games Store. Monster Hunter 6 Most of Capcom's games leaked by Nvidia GeForce Now were already named in the massive data breach Capcom suffered earlier, which includes Street Fighter 6, the Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Dragon's Dogma 2.

Monster Hunter 6 has yet to be officially confirmed but it's a given as the franchise is one of Capcom's best-selling games. Most believe that Capcom will announce Monster Hunter 6 at this year's Tokyo Game Show in September. Take-Two Interactive BioShock 4 is reportedly stuck in development hell. Bioshock 2022 BioShock RTX Remaster XCOM 3 To be honest, we're surprised Grand Theft Auto 6 or Judas weren't on the list. We know Take-Two Interactive has a massive sales pipeline through FY2025, so we were half-expecting more of their games to be part of the leak.

BioShock 4 and BioShock RTX Remaster are questionable, to say the least. The former doesn't seem like it'll be ready by late 2024, a release window being peddled by several insiders, and the latter feels unnecessary. XCOM 3 seems like a given but things might have changed over at Firaxis Games following the success of Midnight Suns. It wouldn't surprise us if Marvel and Take-Two shook on a new deal to prioritize the release of Midnight Suns 2 within the next few years, especially as the MCU is expected to release its own Midnight Sons project sooner rather than later. Electronic Arts Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be out in less than two months. Mirror's Edge RTX Remaster Untitled Respawn Game We're aware that Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment are working on several new Star Wars games. In fact, the first of the said games, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is coming out soon. What's a lot more interesting is the presumed ray-tracing version of Mirror's Edge. We've not heard of it in a while if ever, which makes us wonder if it's already been canceled. Konami Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was the last Metal Gear game Hideo Kojima worked on for Konami. Metal Gear Solid 2 HD Metal Gear Solid 3 HD Now that Konami's big comeback for Silent Hill is in full swing, fans are waiting for the Japanese video game publisher to confirm that it's working on new Metal Gear Solid games or at least a remake of the older titles.

According to the Nvidia Geforce Now leak, the remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, which are widely considered the best entries in the franchise, are the first step in the company's post-Kojima plans for Metal Gear. It isn't clear if this has anything to do with the rumored Metal Gear Solid remake for the PS5 as well as the game that's being teased by the English voice actor of Raiden. SEGA SEGA has become more open to porting several of its best-selling titles to the PC in recent years. Endless Legend 2 Shin Megami Tensei 5 Total War 9 It's not surprising that a new Total War is coming but we're doubtful if Amplitude Studios is working on Endless Legend 2. It's possible SEGA has scrapped it in favor of Endless Dungeon, a spiritual successor to 2014's Dungeon of the Endless, which is due out on May 18. As for Shin Megami Tensei 5, it's more of a foregone conclusion than anything else now that the Persona games are already on the PC. Warner Brothers NetherRealm Studios officially ended support for Mortal Kombat 11 in July 2021. Batman: Arkham Knight RTX Remaster Injustice 3: Gods Will Fall Mortal Kombat XII Arkham Knight survived a disastrous launch to become of the best superhero games of all time. It's a gorgeous game as is that should only look better with an RTX Remaster. But, as with all the other RTX Remaster titles that haven't been released yet, we're doubtful if this will see the light of the day. The same goes for Injustice 3: Gods Will Fall, especially with James Gunn's intention to integrate video games and animated shows into the DC Universe.

Most likely, Mortal Kombat XII is the only game of the three that's coming out but don't expect it to hit the storeshelves within the year.

Keep in mind the games listed on the Nvidia GeForce Now leak isn't guaranteed to come to Steam. Eventually, they may, but we don't know when. Developers might have just added the game to Nvidia GeForce Now for testing purposes. This is a workaround many studios resorted to during the COVID-19 pandemic.
