Cross-play is crucial in games with a multiplayer component. Ever since the undeniable popularity of Fortnite forced all of the big console manufacturers to open their platforms for a synergistic multiplayer gaming experience, a multiplayer game has had the need to have cross-play. But, for some reason, NetherRealm Studios' next Mortal Kombat game won't have it.
Mortal Kombat 1, which is a reboot of the decades-old fighting game franchise, could potentially one-up its predecessor, which exceeded half a billion in sales.
Unfortunately, Mortal Kombat 1 has an uphill climb when it hits the store shelves.
According to a since-deleted portion of the Mortal Kombat 1 FAQ page, the game won't have crossplay at launch.
The famed industry watcher, Wario64, took a screenshot of the alleged part of the Mortal Kombat 1 FAQ page before the studio removed it. In it, NetherRealm confirmed its plans to "add cross-play or cross-progression support post-launch.
