Mortal Kombat 1 has only just been revealed but we're starting to find out more about the game way before NetherRealm Studios intends.
The latest word on the grapevine is that the added characters included in the Kombat Pack DLC for Mortal Kombat 1 have leaked online.
Amazon Italy mistakenly listed the list of post-launch playable and Kameo fighters way ahead of their official reveal, namely:
- Quan Chi
- Omni Man
- Ermac
- Peacemaker
- Takeda
- Homelander
Aside from the six additional playable characters, the listing also includes information on the new Kameo Fighters that are part of Kombat Pack 1, which includes Tremor, Johnny Cage, Khameleon, Mavado, and Ferra.
It's interesting that Johnny Cage is part of the "new" Kameo Fighters when he's in the launch lineup for Mortal Kombat 1.
It's possible that the listing is talking about the Jean Claude Van Damme premium skin for Johnny Cage.
Before the game's official announcement, earlier leaks claimed that Peacemaker and Homelander would be added as DLC guest characters, which the listing confirms. Curiously enough, Conan the Barbarian isn't included although Mortal Kombat 1 is likely to get multiple Kombat Pack DLCs throughout its lifetime.
The inclusion of Ermac, Quan Chi, and Takeda is understandable if expected. All three play prominent roles in the lore of Mortal Kombat. Quan Chi, in particular, is an antagonistic figure that made his playable debut in Mortal Kombat 4. On the other hand, Takeda, alongside Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, and Jacqui Briggs, are collectively known as the Kombat Kids - a play on their lineage as the offspring of Mortal Kombat participants. Finally, Ermac is a neutral character who only means well for Outworld, his native realm.
In any case, NetherRealm and Warner Bros. Discovery haven't addressed the leak yet but it's probably only a matter of time before it's taken down and scrubbed off the face of the internet.
NetherRealm hasn't confirmed when we'll start to hear more about Mortal Kombat 1, but with a September 19 launch date (September 14 if you have early access), we might hear more about it as early as in next week's PlayStation Showcase.
