Hideo Kojima is an enigma wrapped in a mystery. You'll never know what he's doing unless he tells you about it. This is why plenty of fans genuinely believed that he had something to do with the mysterious Blue Box Game Studios and its PlayStation exclusive, Abandoned.
Now, Kojima has gone out of his way to dismiss the rumors.
Here's what Kojima said to Geoff Keighley on the Brain Structure podcast: Users just kept sending me pictures of this Hasan. They still send me collages and deep fake images. Like 20 a day. It's really quite a nuissance. This has been going on for almos two years [sic] now. The timeline matches up to when Abandoned was first revealed. At the time, most fans had believed that the cryptic horror game was a Silent Hill project in disguise. It also didn't help that Hasan Kahraman shared the same initials as Hideo Kojima, which only fueled all of the rumors. Finally, what really "sealed" the deal for a lot of gamers is the fact that Kojima has done this sort of stuff before. It's worth noting that Metal Gear Solid V was initially revealed under the name, The Phantom Pain, with Moby Dick Studio as its developers.
