Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 has been a resounding success. Despite the many glitches and players who were not so keen to adjust to the new play style of the sequel, Warzone 2.0 reached a peak of over 25 million players in just a couple of weeks since it was launched.
Its predecessor, Call of Duty: Warzone, crashed the battle royale scene back in 2020. Many gamers felt that the battle royale genre was already saturated, making it hard for a new title such as Warzone to succeed.
The combination of real-world locations and a massive 150-player arena mixed in with Call of Duty's refined gunplay was a recipe for success. Warzone has been the go-to game for a lot of gamers in the battle royale scene.
Warzone originally launched with the Verdansk map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Caldera was added to the game as a part of Call of Duty: Vanguard. The World War II-themed had a rocky start, receiving mixed reactions from fans of the popular shooter game.
