The next Sony State of Play is coming in late October 2021

Speaking of tuning in, the State of Play for October 2021 will kick off at 5:00 PM ET or 2:00 PM PT on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. What should fans expect from the October 2021 State of Play? Audiences are starved for more Hogwarts Legacy news.

It doesn't appear that the October 2021 State of Play showcase will have a pre-show, but fans can still join in before it starts, just in case Sony drops a surprise announcement or two. As always, the stream is available to watch on the official PlayStation Twitch and Youtube channels.

Audiences can expect the showcase to last anywhere between 20 to 30 minutes. Because Sony has already confirmed that the latest State of Play is going to focus on third-party titles, fans are already busy speculating. In particular, the fandom believes that Sony will drop new Hogwarts Legacy details. The RPG is set in the same world as J.K. Rowling's series of Harry Potter novels. It was first announced at Sony's PS5 reveal event last June 2020.

Unfortunately, since then, fans have heard very little about Hogwarts Legacy. The last bit of significant news about Hogwarts Legacy was when lead developer, Troy Leavitt, resigned earlier this year.

Another big third-party title that's close to PlayStation's chest is Call of Duty: Vanguard. Activision will release the game on November 5, 2021. It would make sense for Sony to highlight Vanguard as part of the two company's longstanding partnership. The same goes for Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, which is scheduled to release on November 11.

Fans are also hoping that Final Fantasy XVI will appear at the October 2021 State of Play event. Since Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins is confirmed to be a multiplatform release, it would make little sense for Sony to focus more on the prequel as opposed to the next mainline series in the long-running RPG franchise.

Gotham Knights and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum might appear too. We might as well throw in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League for good measure. WB's games are no stranger to State of Play events. Sony could very well include new footage from all three of the aforementioned games. Speaking of Warner Bros., we know that it's a long shot, but maybe Sony could delight fans by confirming that at the October 2021 State of Play event that WB's platform fighter is real.

Ultimately, fans will want to watch Sony's next PlayStation event. Sony has always done right by its audiences. With 20 minutes of airtime to fill with third-party titles, only Sony knows what kind of exciting news and announcements it's got in store for its millions of fans around the globe. Even if PlayStation's first-party studios will be a no-show, we doubt Sony will waste this opportunity.
