It looks like Lance Reddick's ability to pull off multiple character personalities in one frame wasn't enough to save Netflix's Resident Evil series.

For the second straight year, a live-action adaptation of Capcom's best-selling franchise is hitting the can.

broke the news wherein it described the cancelation as "not entirely surprising", adding that the eight-episode action-horror TV series "did not have a particularly strong showing on Netflix's Top 10." The same report points to the latest Resident Evil adaptation's failure to make an impression following an "underwhelming 55% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 27% audience score."

Technically, last year's Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is still not canceled. But, with little to zero news about a sequel a year later following a decent outing, we're not betting on a follow-up coming out anytime soon, if at all.
