Kratos isn't just a God of War, he's a god killer. He's battled his way through two pantheons of gods already and a third one could be coming whenever Santa Monica Studio decides to release the next game in the award-winning series.
But, don't worry, Kratos is no longer the Ghost of Sparta nor is he out for vengeance. He's just an incredibly powerful but still-grumpy old man right now whose default response to requests is a grunt before doing it anyway.
Oh, and Kratos has now set a new record for the PlayStation platform with God of War: Ragnarok.
After defying destiny and effectively telling death to go take a hike to the top of Jotunheim in his latest outing, God of War: Ragnarok has set a new record for the "fastest-selling first-party launch game in PlayStation history.
According to Sony, the combined sales of Ragnarok on the PS4 and the PS5 have reached 5.1 units already. In comparison, the platform's previous record-holder, The Last of Us: Part II, sold 4 million copies in three days when it came out in 2020. Before that, Marvel's Spider-Man held the record at 3.3 million copies in three days, which is more than what God of War managed at 3.1 million copies.
