God of War is one of PlayStation's biggest franchises. The PlayStation-exclusive franchise first began in 2005 and is widely cited for helping popularize the action-adventure genre. Then, in 2018, Sony decided to pawn off the development to Santa Monica Studio, which did a mighty fine job with the soft reboot of the series, giving audiences a less-angry Kratos, more RPG, and a sprawling open-world based on Norse mythology.
Given the success of 2018's God of War, it was only a matter of time before it got a sequel, and that's exactly what's coming.
God of War: Ragnarok is scheduled to release sometime in 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. However, before Kratos' next outing arrives, Sony decided to throw fans a bone with a surprise announcement - God of War is coming to PC on January 14, 2022.
