Fast X will reportedly end on a cliffhanger ending to set up the events of the finale.

Over two decades after Dominic Torreto and his crew of misfit mechanics and gearheads boosted DVDs from the back of a truck on their 1993 Honda Civic EJ1, the journey of the action-packed franchise is finally coming to an end.

The Fast and Furious 11, which will likely be changed and/or shortened, will mark the final film in the mainline series.

To help bring Fast and Furious to a stellar finish, Universal Pictures has enlisted the services of Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel as screenwriters.

Both Christina and Oren are Fast and Furious neophytes, but make no mistake, they bring a heavy resume along with them. The former is best known for her work on recent blockbusters such as Bumblebee and Birds of Prey. On the other hand, the latter has written for movies like 22 Jump Street, Mortal Kombat, and The Lost City as well as the upcoming Amazon Spider-Man Noir series that he’s signed up for to be the showrunner.

Together, these two writers will brainstorm on a script that aims to give franchise fans a proper closure.

We’re hoping that Fast X does even better at the global box office than expected so Paramount Pictures will fast track the next film.

Fast and Furious 11 is expected to bring back Fast X’s new director, Louis Leterrier, who apparently impressed executives with his work after taking over from Justin Lin.

A lot can still happen between now and the premiere of Fast and Furious 11, so things might still change. Who knows? The former friends, Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson can make up so Johnson can go back as Luke Hobbs.

In the meantime, audiences can keep themselves busy with the upcoming premiere of Fast X on May 19.

The latest Fast X trailer confirms more of the same and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. From more hand-to-hand combat sequences to bigger set pieces as well as non-stop action, Fast X is shaping up to be a fitting climax before Fast and Furious 11 come in to give the series its full circle ending.

For now, fans can “settle” for Fast X, which brings back a lot of familiar faces while adding new ones.

After Fast & Furious, Vin Diesel already has plans to jump into another franchise, specifically, a new Riddick film. The word is still out whether Diesel will consider reprising his role as Xander Cage in a new xXx installment as well.
