Vin Diesel is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars largely because of his role in the Fast and Furious franchise. However, the 55-year-old actor is also the main star of two highly popular franchises that originated in the early 2000s – The Chronicles of Riddick and xXx.

According to a recent Deadline report, Universal Pictures has finally given the go-ahead to Riddick 4.
Titled Riddick: Furya, the film will see Diesel reunite with David Twohy, who has directed every installment of the series so far. Twohy also penned the script for Riddick 4, as he did for the previous three installments. Diesel will serve as one of the film’s producers via his One Race Films production company, alongside his sister Samantha Vincent.

Since the last installment in the franchise came out a decade ago, several rumors suggest that a fourth installment is on the way. Diesel also gave credibility to these reports with several teases on social media. The latest came last month on Instagram after he posted concept art for the film with the caption "Furya awaits…" However, there was never an official confirmation of the film until now.
While announcing the project, Twohy had the following to say, "Our legion of fans have demanded it for years, and now we’re finally ready to honor their call-to-action with ‘Riddick: Furya.' My collaboration with Vin and One Race has spanned 20 fruitful years, as together we’ve created three movies, two video games, an anime production, and motion comics for the internet. This new big-screen event will see a return to Riddick’s homeworld, where we finally get to explore Riddick’s genesis.
In the third installment of the series, Riddick tried to return to his home world, albeit unsuccessfully. Despite little memory of his birth planet and the possibility that the Necromonger fleet has laid waste to it, he will finally succeed in Riddick: Furya. When he arrives, he will find other Furyans much like himself at war against a new enemy.
At the moment, there isn’t much detail about Riddick: Furya beyond Diesel’s return, Twohy’s return, and the film’s official description. However, as development progresses, more information should come to light, especially about the cast members and the scheduled release date.
By the way, Diesel will next feature as Groot in Marvel’s forthcoming flick, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, slated for release on May 5. Two weeks later, on May 19, the actor and producer will reprise his role as Dominic Toretto in Fast X, which just got its first official trailer.
Speaking of Diesel, the actor recently lobbied for Robert Downy Jr. to join Fast 11 as its villain.
