Dying Light 2 goes gold two months ahead of its new release date

Now that it's gone gold, Dying Light 2 is nearly 100% guaranteed to launch in February 2022.

It will take a rather large emergency for Dying Light 2 not to release in February 2022 at this point.

Delays are not uncommon in video games. This is especially the case with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting productions all around the world. So, earlier this year when you heard that Techland pushed back the release date of Dying Light 2: Stay Human to February 2022, you probably weren’t too surprised. After all, the game was technically supposed to be out by 2020 already. However, now that Dying Light 2: Stay Human has gone gold, it’s safe to say that Techland fully intends to ship the game in two months’ time.

Techland wants you to expect Dying Light 2 in February

Dying Light 2 Goes Gold Two Months Ahead Of Its New Release Date
Techland isn’t new to seeing its games gain little recognition at launch.

In a statement shared by Techland to Game Informer, the game’s lead designer, Tymon Smektala, went ahead and confirmed that the base gameplay “is solid and ready to play.”

However, Smektala did warn fans that there’s still more work to be done, including “upgrades and tweaks to add, and community feedback to implement.” Of course, this isn’t a cause for concern. The fact that the game has gone gold means that Dying Light 2 is ready to go on February 4, 2022, with Techland probably working on adding the finishing touches to the game.

All in all, it’s good news that Techland is confident with Dying Light 2’s, hopefully, final release date.

Earlier this year, Techland revealed that Dying Light 2 was going to release on December 7, 2021. Then, at Gamescom 2021, Techland was there to show off the game’s improved parkour mechanics, among other things. Unfortunately, the December release isn’t going to happen.

What is interesting here is how Dying Light 2 will fare in a relatively stacked month.

Here’s a complete list of all the big games that are confirmed to launch in February 2022, including their release dates:

If it’s any consolation, Techland isn’t new to flying under the radar. 2015’s Dying Light was also an underrated game that didn’t gain as much attention when it was first released. However, it was still able to build up a loyal following over the years, with many gamers praising its parkour mechanics, combat, and multiplayer component. Knowing Techland, they’re probably not as worried about appealing to the masses as they are making sure that the game makes the core fanbase happy and satisfied.
