The voice and inspiration for Miles Morales, Donald Glover, will star in an upcoming Spider-Man film. Unfortunately, he won't suit up as Spider-Man. Despite being the fan-favorite to play Miles Morales, even if only an alternate version as a cameo, Sony and Donald have a different plan. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Community actor will star as and produce a film centered around the obscure Spider-Man villain, Hypno-Hustler.

If you don't know who the Hypno-Hustler is, you're not alone. He's arguably as obscure as Krylar, the green-skinned scientist that Bill Murray is expected to play as in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Hypno-Hustler is a disco-era thief who can hypnotize others with his music. Although he's not even remotely close to being one of Spider-Man's most iconic foes, Glover's interest in the role makes a lot of sense. Donald is an accomplished musician under the stage name, Childish Gambino. If it's a musical project with Sony's full backing and Glover's talents fully unleashed, then we're all for it.

So far, details about the upcoming Sony's Spider-Man Universe film are scant. The only info confirmed aside from Gambino's involvement is that Eddie Murphy's son, Myles Murphy, is writing the movie's script.
