God of War: Ragnarok lost to Elden Ring at The Game Awards. Both were locked in a battle for the coveted award that ultimately saw FromSoftware's open-world RPG take home the prize. If it's any consolation, the God of War sequel won the most awards at the event at six. And, also, Amazon Prime Video finally confirmed that it's picked up God of War for a live-action adaptation, confirming an earlier leak.

The TV series will be based on the 2018 video game, which is essentially a soft reboot of the God of War series. The TV show will be headed by Rafe Judkins, who will serve as the series showrunner. Judkins previously worked on the "Wheel of Time" TV show for Amazon Prime.

In the upcoming TV show, we will see Kratos retire to the Norse realm of Midgard after battling with the Greek Gods. After the death of his wife, Kratos sets off on a quest with his son Atreus to spread her ashes from the highest peak. The journey tests the relationship between father and son as they battle the Norse Gods.
