Writers strike delays release of The Boys Season 4

Eric Kripke, the showrunner of the series, took to his Twitter account to provide an update on the delay, putting the blame squarely on the studios' refusal to meet the demands of the striking writers. However, Kripke lightened the blow for fans by sharing an amusing promotional artwork for the upcoming season: a cereal box featuring The Deep, Choctopus Puffs, and a fun word search puzzle.

Even though the fourth season of the show had already finished filming, Kripke made it clear that there were still some extra lines of dialogue that had been penned post production. There's a good amount of dialogue we write in post that the actors come back to record (called ADR), to help bridge story gaps or clarify a plot point. We'll also edit dialogue together in different ways to 'rewrite' it. Writing at every stage of the process.

Due to the ongoing writers' strike, it's highly unlikely that the fourth season of The Boys will be released within its usual July-September window, breaking the trend set by previous seasons.

Unfortunately, the strike that began on May 2 has impacted several other popular shows, including The Last of Us Season 2, Stranger Things Season 5, and the Game of Thrones spinoff prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. With no resolution in sight, it's unclear when these highly anticipated shows will see the light of day.

Prime Video struck gold with The Boys, which has become a powerhouse for the streaming platform. While they invested heavily in promoting the divisive Tolkien series, The Rings of Power, recent viewership numbers revealed that The Boys found more favor among its subscribers. With over 10.6 billion minutes streamed, the superhero series eclipsed The Rings of Power, which recorded 9.4 billion minutes.

As much as the plot of the upcoming fourth season has been shrouded in secrecy, some of the actors have dropped subtle hints of what we can expect. Anthony Starr, who brilliantly portrays Homelander, has teased that we're in for one of the wildest and most bizarre scenes the show has ever seen.

And if that wasn't exciting enough, Jensen Ackles, who flawlessly embodies Soldier Boy, has let slip that his character will make a return at some point in the series.

The fourth season of the show will see most of the cast returning to reprise their roles, but the real buzz is around The Walking Dead's star, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who is all set to make his debut in an undisclosed role.
