The last Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter has officially been announced and it's not someone who has been closely linked to the game in the past.
As promised during the September 2021 Nintendo Direct showcase, Mr. Sakurai presented the game's final character during a live stream event. Much to everyone's surprise, Mr. Sakurai announced that Kingdom Hearts' protagonist, Sora, is joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster as the game's latest and last playable character.

After Nintendo revealed the penultimate Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter a few months back, fans have been speculating as to who the game's 82nd fighter was going to be. An earlier leak even suggested that the final character would be a trio made up of a Legend of Zelda character, someone from a non-action Capcom game, and Waluigi. Some fans even believed that it was going to be Master Chief.
