Contrary to popular belief, Respawn Entertainment has not given up on Titanfall just yet. Although the EA-owned studio has focused much of its attention on Apex Legends since February 2019 while occasionally working on other games like 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and 2020's award-winning title, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, Respawn was quick to remind its fans that it has not forgotten the series that started everything for them.
When is the next Titanfall game coming?
Technically, there's already a new Titanfall game. Apex Legends can be considered a successor to the Titanfall franchise considering that it takes place in the same universe and uses several of its core elements. Both game's in-game lore is also connected, which means that you can consider Apex Legends the next Titanfall title. But, as for an actual sequel, only Respawn knows when it's coming.
Throughout 2021, Respawn has been on the receiving end of much criticism for abandoning Titanfall. Back in July, hackers went as far as to hack Apex Legends to raise awareness for the issues currently plaguing Titanfall's servers. Respawn's response was to fix the problems caused by the hackers in Apex Legends while still ignoring Titanfall. Then, in September, malicious hackers and cheaters just took over Titanfall 2.
