Insider Leaks Details About Star Wars FPS Game By Apex Legends Developer

Respawn, which successfully launched Star Wars Jedi: Survivor last year, has been working on multiple Star Wars titles simultaneously. In addition to the Star Wars Jedi threequel that the game's lead, Cameron Monaghan, confirmed last year, Respawn has been juggling resources working on a strategy game and a stylish first-person shooter project for at least two years now. The FPS game, now revealed to center around the Mandalorian narrative, promises to immerse players in the fast-paced and dangerous life of a bounty hunter navigating the galaxy for rewards.

The game is a more linear experience set across various Star Wars planets. This design choice is aimed at delivering a more focused and intense gameplay experience while emphasizing "mobility" and "style." Players can expect to leverage the Mandalorian's iconic jetpack for dynamic movement, including horizontal dashing, vertical jumping, and boost sliding, reminiscent of the mechanics seen in Apex Legends.

The Mandalorian's arsenal will be at the player's disposal, with gadgets such as wrist rockets, a grapple hook, and a visor for tagging enemies and bounties. The gameplay is reported to be "very fast-paced," with a health regeneration system that rewards players for consecutive kills, encouraging aggressive and stylish combat strategies.

While the identity of the protagonist remains unconfirmed, the game's presumed setting - it's set during the Galactic Empire's height - suggests a willingness to explore fresh stories outside of established Star Wars lore.

The project, initially led by Mohammad Alavi, remains under the guidance of Respawn game director Peter Hirschmann, a veteran of LucasArts. Hirschmann's experience with Star Wars, notably as an executive producer for the original Battlefront series, lends credibility and excitement to the project's potential.
