Describing the Resident Evil 4 remake as one of the most eagerly awaited games of the year seems like an understatement considering its exceptional performance, merely a few days after its release.
Less than 24 hours after its launch on March 24, the survival horror game developed by Capcom broke the all-time record for concurrent players in the entire Resident Evil franchise on Steam. Having reached an all-time peak of 168,191 concurrent players, the Resident Evil 4 remake has already surpassed the previous record of 106,631 concurrent players set by Resident Evil Village.
Released in 2005, Resident Evil 4 takes place six years after the events of Resident Evil 2 and revolves around the story of Leon Kennedy, a U.S. agent tasked with rescuing Ashley Graham, the daughter of the U.S. President, from a mysterious cult in Europe. The game was both a critical and commercial success, selling over 11 million copies and earning numerous Game of the Year awards.
Today, it is widely recognized as one of the greatest and most influential video games of all time.
Continuing the tradition set by its predecessor, the Resident Evil 4 Remake has been well-received by critics, who have praised its technological and design improvements, as well as its faithfulness to the original game's spirit.
