Since the debut of Todd Garner's live action Mortal Kombat film more than two years ago, fans have been eagerly anticipating news about a sequel. Fortunately, the producer has now shared a much-awaited update on when filming is expected to begin.
According to a report by GeekVibesNation on Twitter, the filming of Mortal Kombat 2 is slated to commence in Australia in June, with production scheduled to conclude three months later, in September.
This update has since been confirmed by Todd Garner via his Twitter account. The latest update shares similarities with the first Mortal Kombat film, which was also shot in Australia during a three-month filming period.
Last year, Warner Bros. Discovery officially gave the green light for the sequel, which will be written by Jeremy Slater and directed by Simon McQuoid. Although details about the film have not been disclosed, Slater has announced that Johnny Cage, a fan-favorite character in the franchise, will make an appearance.
