Technically, Mortal Kombat 12 is already confirmed. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO and President, David Zaslav, made sure of this earlier this year when he confirmed that both Mortal Kombat 12 and the much-maligned Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League sometime this year.
But, while Zaslav's recent statement is as official as can get, fans are still hoping to get a different and more hype-worthy announcement.
As per SonicFox, it might come sooner than you think.
According to the professional esports player who specializes in fighting games, they're expecting the announcement to come sometime next week.
Their tweet was from April 8, so we can only assume that he meant anytime between April 10 and 17.
I anticipate an MK12 announcement next week..

While SonicFox doesn't work for Warner Bros. Discovery or NetherRealm, they're one of the most renowned esports players of all time. The six-time EVO champion, whose real name is Dominique McLean, has earned more than half a million dollars in prize pool earnings and was named the Esports Player of the Year at the 2018 The Game Awards.
So, while they're not a developer nor an insider, NetherRealm could have invited SonicFox to test the game, which is why he could be privvy to such info.
Of course, SonicFox could have just thrown caution into the wind and made a wild guess. After all, it's not like anyone can hold him to his prediction.
In any case, 2023 is looking busy for the fighting game genre. If Mortal Kombat 12 is indeed coming out, it will join other genre stalwarts like Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8, both of which are expected to launch in the next few months. Finally, an iconic and "forgotten" fighting game series is returning to the film with Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 being recently announced.
