Call of Duty: Warzone has puzzled players with its
from day one, and finally some headway has been made - but we're ultimately left with more questions than answers.
indicated that keycard items are being added to the game, and finally players managed to use these to open the bunkers. What was inside?
Loot, mostly. Bunkers are opened with keycards found in the highest-tier loot you can find in Verdansk, and if you manage to open up a Bunker with the Red Keycard, you'll be treated to some select items. Bunker loot can be an actual gamechanger, giving you the edge you need to come out on top.
However, even more interestingly, the bunkers also hide what look like old, decommissioned nuclear warheads. If games-as-a-service titles and future content teases for marketing purposes have taught us anything, this is probably more than just a random easter egg.

Incidentally, leaks regarding this year's Call of Duty game point towards a soft reboot of the Black Ops sub-series, ditching the sci-fi element and going back to the Cold War roots. It's even in the title, which allegedly will be Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
The old nukes found in Warzone's bunkers certainly strengthen these claims, since nuclear anxiety was a key element of the Cold War era, as were arms races. Kastovia, the fictional country where Verdansk is located in-universe, was formerly part of the Soviet Union, so it makes sense that there would be some Soviet nukes lying around as a holdover from the Cold War - at least, sense in the "Call of Duty logic" manner.
Since Activision has envisioned a long life for Warzone, it will certainly still be a live game when the next main title is released. It would be a hell of a mistake to have the two games ignore one another, so some kind of cross-promotion is guaranteed - and this may be laying the groundwork for precisely that.
