RUMOR: Toys for Bob Has Begun Development on Spyro 4

If true, this would be the first brand new Spyro adventure since 2008's The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The last major release was Toys for Bob's own Spyro Reignited Trilogy in 2018, which beautifully remade the first three original games.

While undoubtedly exciting for Spyro fans who have been starved of a new game for nearly two decades, Canadian Guy Eh cautioned that the project is still extremely early in development. Having just begun in January, Spyro 4 could still face delays, cancellations, or overhauls before ever seeing the light of day (which would just be another day in the gaming world).

That being said, all signs point to this being Toys for Bob's first major project since regaining its independence from Activision earlier this year. The reported Microsoft partnership allows the California-based developer to bypass corporate red tape and focus entirely on resurrecting its popular game franchises like Spyro.

The developer even slyly hinted at Spyro's return in its January announcement, telling fans to "keep your horns on and your eyes out for more news." Well, that shrewd news is possibly now here - the purple dragon's fiery return seems imminent.

For millions of fans who grew up collecting gems, charming strange worlds, and battling Ripto and Gnasty Gnorc, dreams of a stellar modern Spyro sequel have indeed been reignited. Let's just hope Toys for Bob can rekindle that old magic when Spyro 4 eventually takes flight.
