If you've been paying attention to all the talks on the internet about the so-called next God of War game, you'd be aware that a job listing is the main reason behind all the rumors. If you do further research, you'll know the long-time developers of the God of War franchise, Santa Monica Studio, and one of God of War: Ragnarok's support studios, Valkyrie Entertainment, aren't working on the next God of War game. Or, at least, not if you base it on the source of the original rumor.
The rumor goes that Valkyrie Entertainment is hiring a Senior Environment Artist and the studio is using its credential as one of those working on "the next iteration of God of War." This sounds pretty believable, and it's true. The problem is that the listing isn't new.
Valkyrie Entertainment created the listing on September 13, 2021, which is over a year ago. So, the "next iteration of God of War" at the time would be God of War: Ragnarok. It's not clear if the studio has found someone to fill the position yet. However, we're 100% sure that the hired Senior Environment Artist is going to work on the studio's other projects and not God of War 3 or whatever Sony wants to name it.
