Polyphony Digital's latest Gran Turismo outing, Gran Turismo Sport, was a departure from the series' established formula. Instead of focusing more on what made the franchise more popular, the "non-numbered" sequel focused more on the esport side of racing simulation. Although it still sold well and was loved by critics as well as audiences, fans couldn't help but ask for a more traditional Gran Turismo sequel.
