Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - Locations of All Abilities

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla introduces a new type of collectible called 'Books of Knowledge.' These are scattered all around

the vast world of Valhalla

and collecting these books unlocks unique abilities for Eivor. You must collect all The Books of Knowledge to get the 'Completionist All The Way!' Trophy and 100% completion.

You can assign a total of eight abilities to Eivor, four ranged and four melee abilities. Abilities consume adrenaline (designated by the golden bar above your health bar). The adrenaline bar can be recharged either by successfully dodging enemies or by eating mushrooms scattered around the world.

We understand how difficult it is to find all the abilities. That is why below, we have collected all the ability locations to make it easier for you. Just make sure you are ready to travel across Norway and England for hours!

In Rygjafylke region you can find a total of three abilities.

You can find Rage of Helheim ability just northeast of Kvotjke's Fortress.

There is a waterfall, and you can climb up the mountain where the waterfall is. Just halfway climbing up, you will come across a huge opening. This is an entrance to the cave, where you will find the Rage of Helheim's ability.

This opening will be overlooking Kvotjke's Fortress as well.

Once you head inside the cave entrance, make your way to the end, and you will find the book of knowledge and collect it to get Rage of Helheim ability.

Throwing Axe Fury is the most iconic ability due to the hype it created when it was first seen in the trailers before the release of the game. You can find this ability just south of Nottfall.

Be careful as there will be a couple of guards at the cave entrance leading up to the ability. Either sneak your way in or take them out "the Viking" way. There's not much to explore when you're inside the cave except a barred door with some loot outside. There will be an opening at the top left corner o the door that you can use to hop on the other side of the door to find the Throwing Axe Ability.

Thorn of Slumber is a bit tricky to get, but it is very easy if you know exactly where to go. You can even avoid all the guards if you follow the route we've provided. Thorn of Slumber ability is found at Gryttirsand, which is located south of Nottfall.

Once you've reached the location, go to the southern-most hidden entrance and remember to put on your cloak. Crouch and while using the cover from the bushes, make your way to the tower. Always remember to use your Odin's sight to keep track of where you are headed. Remember, you can either follow the golden ring, which indicates the ability, or the red-colored glow that indicates the barred door behind which the ability is.

Once you're at the base of the tower, climb up while making sure to avoid the traps that rattle to give away your position. Halfway through the tower, you will find a small window to enter. Enter the window, and you might encounter a guard here, just assassinate him, and you should be good to go. After that, you will find some wooden planks boarding the floor. Destroy it using your bow and arrow.

After destroying the planks, go through, and you will find the ability. Get the ability and destroy the barred door to end up at the base of the tower once again. You can make your way back to where you came in from and be on your way to the next ability.

England in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is enormous and understandably has many locations that you can visit. Each location or region has abilities and gear that you can find. These gears are also considered as wealth.

Harpoon Impalement is found in an underground area that you cna access through the ruins in Venonis.

There will be a ladder taking you deep underground. Take it and go down.

Keep going, and you will notice that you are at a dead end. Be careful as there are some urns here that have snakes in them. You can destroy these urns, and the snakes will attack you. Moving forward, when you are at the dead end, you will be able to see the ability book through metal bars to your left. And, in front of you will be a wooden wall that you can break.

Break the wooden wall, pass through to access a small water alley, swim to the other side, and climb up the wall to your left. You will find oil jars and a breakable wall. Pick up the oil jar and place it next to the breakable wall.

Back away from the wall and shoot the oil jar using your bow and arrow to destroy the wall to access the room with the ability. Get the ability and then move the huge pillar blocking a little hole at the base of the wall that you can use to return to the snake room and then all the way back up to exit.

Raven Distraction ability is found at the very western edge of Ledecestrescire at Tonnastadir.

First, head to the longhouse of this location and get the key from the table. Be cautious as there will be guards all around this area.

After getting the key, head to the hidden passage icon, this is a locked door that you can use the key on. Be careful as several soldiers guard this door.

Unlock and descend into the cave. You will end up in a room with a letter from Ivarr and some valuable loot. You will also find a chest with some gear. If you notice the right side of the room, you will see a narrow passageway leading into a secret room that contains the ability Raven Distraction.

Go through the passageway, and you can collect your ability and some more loot.

Piercing Shot is located at Templebrough Fort. This is the same Fort that Eivor and the Ragnarssons attack to find King Burgred's wife. You can either get it during the quest or after, but the guards will always be there.

Head to the middle of the fort, and you will find an opening that you can mantle over.

As soon as you're inside, turn right, and there should be a book of knowledge by the wall. This is your Piercing Shot ability. Note that there will be some powerful guards in this area, including the Skirmishers. So head in fully prepared.

Focus of the Nornir is found in Offchurch that you come across during your main story quest hunting King Burgred. You can always return to this location even after the completion of the quest.

Once you enter the crypt section and go through it, you will come to the room where you defeat a soldier to get the key to the door that leads to King Burgred, but instead of going to the room, turn right towards a set of stairs leading up. When you go up the stairs, turn left, and then once again to your immediate left, you will see a crack in the wall.

Go through the hole in the wall, and you will come to a secret room. You will find the Focus of the Nornir ability in this room.

Mark of Death ability is found in a small village called Meldeburne.

You can unlock a tower using a key that is with a guard right at the base of the tower.

Kill the guard and get the key off his body, unlock the tower, and you will see the ability book right as you enter.

Rush & Bash ability can be found in a highly guarded base at Ravensburg.

When you are here, you will find the ability through a locked door.

You will find the key on one of the guards in this area. Use Odin's sight to highlight the enemy with the key and eliminate them to get it.

Once you have the key, unlock the door and get your Rush & Bash ability.

This ability is a fairly easy ability to acquire. Either sneak your way past the guards or fight your way to the top of Walden.

At the very top of Walden, you will find the church. Head inside the church and take your immediate right to enter a long hall. The book is at the end of the hall.

You can also find several keys around to enter the church from the back by unlocking a door. It is completely up to you how you want to approach this.

Here is the back door location that you can unlock with one of the keys to gain entry into the church if you want to sneak in.

Dive of the Valkyries can be found below the Isle of Ely Monastery.

You can enter a secret underground cave from the eastern hidden passage that leads you directly to the ability.

Keep following the path, and you will end up in a room with the ability.

There is a garrison named 'Leah Villa' garrison. You can find the Feign Death ability here.

There is a locked door that you must open to get to the room with the ability.

First, head inside the main building and find the key, which is resting on a table. Use Odin's sight to locate the key easily.

Go back outside and to the locked room to unlock and get your ability.

The Vengeance of Thor is located in a locked and guarded room just southwest of Leah Villa Garrison. The location is by the river.

As the door to the room is locked, you must find the key first, found in a tower adjacent to the room. This is where most of the players get confused. A strong brute guards the main entrance of the tower. Either way, it doesn't matter as you must enter the tower through one of its windows. Break the window using your bow and arrow and enter.

When you're inside, you can move a block to reveal another way down.

Go down, and you will be in the base room of the tower, where you can find the key for the locked room. Get the key and head over to the locked room now.

Unlock the door, and you will find your ability as soon as you enter.

Man's Best Friend ability is located on the outskirts of Lunden inside the Crepelgate Fort.

You can simply sneak your way in and don't have to fight anyone, as the way to the ability is super easy. It was tricky to find the way for us, but it won't be for you. You can hop over the fort wall, and you will find a hidden passage into the archer tower.

Go through this, and to your left, you will find a hole in the wall to enter the tower.

Once you're inside, you will find a moveable pillar that you can move to reveal another hole to go deeper underground into the basement of the tower. You will find your ability in this basement.

First Axe Blizzard ability is found in an abandoned church in East Anglia near Yare River.

The ability is on the second level of the church.

Go up to the second level, and you will find the book of knowledge just resting on the coffin.

Blinding Rush ability is found in Ruined Tower.

Go to the location, and you will find a boarded floor. Use your bow and arrow to break it open and descend.

Once you reach the bottom, you will find some oil jars beside a destroyable wall. Shoot the oil jars to cause an explosion and blow open the wall.

Go through the wall to get your Blinding Rush ability.

The second Rush and Base ability can be found at Dunwic.

Once you're at the location, defeat the heavy Man-At-Arms soldier and his minions. Look at the defeated Man-At-Arm's table for a key.

Then look directly in front of the table to find a breakable floor. Use one of the oil jars nearby to destroy it.

Go through the opening, and you will find a movable pillar. Move it aside to find a hidden door.

Use the key that you collected earlier to go through the door and get your ability.

You can find the Harpoon Impalement upgrade at Sancta Helena's Church located in Essexe.

Go behind the church to find a moveable pillar. Move it and go through.

Once you're through, you will find a coffin with a chair next to it. There will be a key on the chair. Grab the chair and make your way to the main hall of the church.

Once you're in the hall, use your Odin's sight to look for a yellow marker indicating the location of the ability book of knowledge. You will notice that the ability is high up in the tower, and to enter the tower, you have to go through a door that is locked. But, this is where the collected key comes in. Unlock the door using the key and go through.

Once through, you will find another moveable pillar by the wall. Pull it towards the handing ladders to reach them.

Climb up the ladders, and you will find another set of ladders that you can release by shooting with your bow and arrow.

Climb these ladders, and you will be at the top of the tower where you can collect your ability.

The second Raven Distraction ability can be found at Belesduna Bandit Camp.

When you reach the location, you will notice that the door beyond which the ability resides is barred from the other side. Go at the back of the door, outside the area, and you will find wooden planks covering up a window.

Shoot the planks to reveal the room. You won't be able to enter the room due to raised metallic bars. But, there will be enough gap for you to shoot open the barred door with your bow and arrow.

Now, you will see that the door can be opened.

Enter, and you will see the ability to your immediate left as soon as you enter.

The second Feign Death ability can be found in bandit hideout called Aelfwood.

Go through the tunnel entrance to the right of the ability icon, as shown in the map above. This is a cave entrance with two black banners having white skulls on it.

Head inside, and you look to your left to find another big black banner with a white skull on it. This big banner is hiding a secret room behind it.

Walk through the banner, and you will find a hidden room. The ability is on the table.

The second vengeance of Thor ability is at Thieve's Warren. This place is full of bandits so take precautions here.

As soon as you enter the camp, there will be a hut/house right in front of you with a barred door. This is the first house right in front of you as you enter the camp.

You can easily enter this house. Look at the right side of the house to find a small underground secret hidden passage.

Go through the passage, and when you are directly below the house, you will climb up the wall into the house. Once inside, you will find the ability on the ground by the wall.

Kick of Tyr ability is found at Ulkerthorpe Fort in Snotinghamscire.

As you approach the book of knowledge the "conventional" way, you will notice that the door leading to the ability is barred from the other side.

Head up using the stairs, and you will notice an opening in the wall to your right. Go through the opening, and you will come across a set of ladders. Take the ladders down to find an open window that leads to that same ability room.

Go through the window and collect the ability. You can now exit the room by opening the barred door from inside.

This ability is found near Odin Mine Hideout at the far North of the map. There is a deep underground cave that can be accessed via Odin Mine Hideout.

There is a massive drop by the waterfall that leads you into an underground cave. Refer to the character icon in the map image above to know the exact location of the drop.

Drop down and proceed to go through the cave, fighting enemy soldiers until you come to the middle section of the underground camp. Look at the right side of the cave along the wall to find a blockage that can be moved. Move it to find an opening you can go through.

Before going through the gap, pick up the oil jar by the gap entrance first as it will be needed.

You will need to parkour through to the next wall, which is a destroyable wall. Either throw the oil jar at the wall to destroy it or place it next to it and shoot it using bow and arrow.

Keep moving forward, and you will come across another blockage, but this time it is a thin ice wall that you can break just by melee.

Once the ice wall is down, go through it, and your ability will be right there.

The second Blinding Rush ability can be found on top of a church tower located at Chertsey Abbey Ruins.

There will be a tower in the middle of the ruins with four windows on all four sides of the tower.

However, you can only see and shoot through one of the windows in the front (where the entrance is). Climb up to the window, and shoot the hanging load to release it and open a path for you to go up.

After shooting down the load, head inside the tower and shoot the ladders to release them.

Once released, make your way up to the tower and collect your ability.

The second incendiary powder trap is found at Biggsworth.

The ability is at the top of the tower, but you will notice that the door is barred from the other side when you reach the top.

Climb above the door to find a moveable pillar/load. Move it to get inside the tower.

Head inside, and you will find your ability.

The second Focus of the Nornir ability can be found inside Bolingbroc Castle.

It is easy to find the ability as it is not hidden. But, it is hard to get to the ability as strong soldiers surround it. So be wary of the area.

You can find the second Piercing Shot ability in Lincoln.

Head to the roof of the building and break the wooden planks covering the entrance.

Get inside the building, and you will see a destroyable wall. Use nearby oil jars to destroy it.

Move inside, and you will see a moveable pillar once again. Move it to reveal another secret room.

Go to the end of the room to find a key on the table. Collect it and get back to the main section of the house.

There will be a locked room in this same house beyond which is your ability. Use the collected key to unlock this door.

Go through the door to find your Piercing Shot ability upgrade.

The upgrade for Dive of the Valkyrie can be found at Lolingestone Bandit Camp.

This camp is easy to identify due to the large structures right at the entrance of the camp.

Get inside the building and take out the bandits (or sneak in). Make your way to the main hall of the building, and you will see the ability on a handing platform at the end of the hall. You can parkour your way to the platform easily.

The second Thorn of Slumber can be found above Dover Fortress in a room at the base of the ruined tower.

You will find a locked door at the base of the tower.

The key to this door isn't far away. It is at the top of the ruined tower.

Climb at the top of the ruined tower, and you will find the key there.

Unlock the door and go through it to find the ability right in front of you.

The second Kick of Tyr ability is found in a bandit camp called 'Threaded Pass.'

You must use the camp's zipline to access an archer tower that has the key that helps you get to the ability.

As soon as you're above the archer tower, jump!

Go to the small house next to the longhouse. This house will have a set of stairs leading to the basement.

Once you're at the bottom, you will find a locked door. Open it using the collected key.

Go through the door to find your book of knowledge on a table among several scrolls.

Poisonous Powder Trap upgrade can be found in Petuaria Ruins.

When you are inside the ruins, there will be a boarded-up floor with wooden planks. Break it to gain entry to the underground area of the ruin.

Once you've reached the bottom, go through the small gap at the bottom of the wall next to you.

Once you're through, you will find a destroyable wall in front of you. But, you do not have any oil jars to do so. Dive underwater and go all the way to the left side.

Swim-up, and you will find oil jars in a room.

Pick one of the oil jars and take it to the opposite room. You will find another destroyable wall here. Use the oil jar to destroy it, and you will be back at the starting room when you dropped down after breaking the wooden planks.

After destroying the wall, go back to the room with the oil jars and pick another one up. Come back to the original room and go through the gap in the wall. Now, make your way to the same wall that we saw earlier before diving. Parkour your way to the wall by either staying to the very left or right of the room.

After destroying the wall, you will see a movable pillar/load. Push it, and then you will be able to make your way in the room with the ability.

You need to be quick here as there is poisonous gas in this room. Quickly grab your ability and leave the room.

There is a small territory within Eurviscire called Jorvik. You can find the second Rage of Helheim in the Archives located at Jorvik.

There is scaffolding outside the Archives building. Climb that, and you will be able to see the hanging load.

Shoot it with your bow and arrow to make a path for you.

Head back inside the building and shoot the lock holding the ladders together to release them.

Climb up the ladders, and you will see your ability by the wall.

The second Axe Blizzard ability can be found in Wincestre Garrison.

There will be a fortress at the end of the garrison with a locked door.

The key to this locked door is in the building to the right of this door.

Go back to the door and unlock it.

Go inside the main fortress building and go up to the first floor.

You will reach the door that leads to the ability, but it will be barred from the other side.

However, you will notice another through the small window/gap on the wall to the left of the barred door. There will be another door barred door that you can shoot open.

Go back outside, and you can enter the door that you just opened to reach the room with the ability.

Go inside, and you will see the ability resting by the wall.

You can find the Throwing Axe Fury upgrade in Caustow Castle, but first, you must progress through the main Sciropescire story arc. You should be able to access this ability once you've reached the mission called 'King Killer,' where Eivor and Ivarr raid the castle.

There will be a barred door that you won't be able to access. Go to the room to the left of the barred door to find a destroyable wall. Go to the opposite side of the corridor or hallway to find a kitchen. You can find oil jars in this kitchen. Take the oil jar to the wall, destroy it, and collect your ability.

The second Man's Best Friend ability is found at your settlement Ravensthorpe.

To get the second ability, you must first upgrade your settlement to level 3 by building and creating new alliances.

Once you reach level 3, you will be able to build the Seer's Hut.

After building the Seer's Hut, you will escort Valka to her new hut and then a new quest called 'A Little Problem' will be available in the longhouse which is not exactly indicated or shown on the map. Head over to your longhouse and you will find a boy named Knud.

He will ask Eivor to help him and his friends. Eivor follows him to the forest.

Once Eivor reaches the destination, Knud and his friends ask him to help free a "dog" from captivity in a locked house's basement. This dog turns out to be a wolf.

Once freed, Eivor escorts the children and the wolf back to the settlement after which, you automatically acquire the Man's Best Friend ability upgrade.

There are eight more abilities that you can get as rewards by completing Hidden One's Bureau quests. You must build the Hidden Ones Bureau in your settlement first.

You can bring the medallions belonging to the Order of the Ancients back to Hytham at the settlement to get eight abilities in total.
