Legendary gear is understandably hard to get, but one trick to make it a bit easier is to replay older missions by choosing a Story Point.

You can take advantage of this point via the online component and lobby of the game. Here, you can choose to play through an older mission and receive gear as a reward for completing the mission. You can do this over and over again. This is a mechanic that was purposely added to the game to make repeating missions rewarding for all players.

Because all the gear you get will carry over, you can keep on grinding missions you've already completed to get Legendary gear.

Of course, this process, while straightforward, can take a bit of time. That is intentional and is to deter players from getting their hands on Legendary gear too easily, since you'll have to reload and replay missions over and over again. Not to mention, it's much easier to keep on replaying Story Points and killing a single Captain as opposed to playing through an entire mission over and over again.
