Zack Snyder confirms that a Rebel Moon RPG is in the works

It looks like Zack Snyder is taking all of that pent-up energy from his cancelled DCEU universe and pouring it into building one for Netflix.

Zack Snyder could do a reverse The Last of Us and create an excellent video game based on a potentially great cinematic franchise.

Zack Snyder sounds a lot like someone who’s made or at least consulted on a video game already. While Snyder has a long list of credits under his name, none are in the gaming industry. This will change soon.

The divisive overlord of the now-defunct DC Extended Universe joined the Nerd Queens podcast over the weekend to talk about his upcoming projects. He brought up his recent collaborations with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and something related to the DCEU.

But, the highlight of the episode was his revelation about Rebel Moon.

As Snyder blabbered away about everything that he’s working on at the moment, he let one unannounced project slip: a Rebel Moon RBG.

Specifically, here’s what Snyder said about it:

The one thing that I’m having a really good time with – and I don’t really know if I’m supposed to talk about it – is this RPG that we’re doing that is just literally insane, and so immersive and so intense and so huge.

The Zack Snyder’s Justice League director elaborated on the idea, saying that an unnamed developer “pitched” the game to him as he hinted that the project is still in pre-production.

Video game adaptations of real-life properties have always shown potential but very few have lived up to the expectations. Hogwarts Legacy is a good example of this. But, if Zack Snyder wants Rebel Moon to expand even before it’s started, it only goes to show just how much confidence he has about the project

Of course, we highly doubt Snyder can get the financing needed to get this off the ground until the first half of the two-part movie premieres.

With that said, fans of the director of 300 and Watchmen will be able to watch his latest project, Rebel Moon, when it hits Netflix on December 22.

If a Star Wars video game can work, Rebel Moon, which is based on the Disney mega-franchise, can do it as well.

Speaking of video games based on mainstream properties, Frank Herbert’s Dune universe has spawned Dune: Awakening, an open-world survival MMO by Funcom.
