WWE to end feud between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam

Cody Rhodes will have to wait until August to get over the massive Beast-sized bump in the road in front of him.

Brock Lesnar hasn't been seen inside the WWE ring ever since the Night of Champions ended.

The stage is apparently set for the much-anticipated showdown that will close the ongoing feud between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar.

The thrilling third bout between the wrestling titans is reportedly scheduled to take place at this year’s SummerSlam, slated for Saturday, August 5, at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

Dave Meltzer confirmed the announcement on Wrestling Observer Radio. The pair have a victory each. Rhodes clinched the first match at WWE Backlash on May 6 in Puerto Rico before passing out in the humongous arms of The Beast Incarnate at Night of Champions. His defeat in the latter match has been attributed to a storyline-broken arm he’s currently nursing due to a savage attack by Lesnar on the May 22 episode of Monday Night RAW.

Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez shared additional information about the match, hinting at an unusual stipulation, saying that it’s one “we haven’t seen in a while.”

While Alvarez didn’t specify the nature of the stipulation, he asserted that it’s something beyond a straight match.

Given how the WWE has all but telegraphed the ending of the series, this additional element could heighten the drama and add some unpredictability ahead of the clash.

Let it not be said that Cody Rhodes’ journey to the top of the WWE wasn’t hard fought.

As Rhodes and Lesnar prepare for the third encounter, fans are watching closely to see how the storyline unfolds and what the unexpected stipulation could be. More importantly, if the match isn’t set until SummerSlam, audiences are wondering if the WWE has other plans for Rhodes and Lesnar at Money in the Bank on July 1.

We’ll likely find out more about how the WWE will handle the build-up to the big match on the June 5 episode of Monday Night RAW with Rhodes appearing on Miz TV.

It’s definitely clear that the WWE wants to keep Rhodes and his overarching rival, Roman Reigns, busy with their respective storylines before their eventual clash, presumed to be at WrestleMania 40.

Roman Reigns’ name will always be linked with Cody Rhodes until The American Nightmare can finish his story.

At the moment, Reigns is busy dealing with the potential fall of The Bloodline following the reveal of the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship belt. Reigns is expected to defend his title belts at Money in the Bank and SummerSlam although this plan isn’t set in stone yet as of the moment.
