Wednesday Season 2 set to begin filming in Ireland in 2024

Wednesday's first season, filmed in Romania from September 2021 to March 2022, became a global success, turning its production site into a popular tourist attraction. Despite this triumph, Netflix has opted to shift locations, possibly due to logistical challenges posed by the initial set that the company aims to avoid in future productions.

Wednesday follows the titular character, Wednesday Addams, and her experiences after enrolling at Nevermore Academy. With her newly discovered psychic power, she foils a series of interconnected killings and helps solve a mystery that has plagued the town for several decades.

Jenna Ortega stars as Wednesday Addams with Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Emma Myers, Percy Hynes White, and Hunter Doohan starring as other characters.

While Netflix has not officially announced the cast for Season 2, it is widely speculated that Ortega will return, especially since she is attached to the project as a producer. Besides, Tim Burton, the director of four episodes, recently praised Ortega's integral role in the show, hinting at her potential return.

Wednesday Season 2 is expected to take a bolder and darker turn. In contrast to the first season's love triangle, the upcoming season will omit romantic interests, focusing more on the horror elements.

During a recent interview with Variety, Ortega revealed, "We've decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more. Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don't want to take yourself too seriously. We're ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great."

Wednesday is currently in the early stages of development. Fortunately, Netflix set production to start in late April 2024. Given the widespread approval the show received, there is no doubt that this news, that Wednesday will begin production soon, will be greeted with glee by fans of the supernatural comedy show.
