Warner Bros. set a new standard in big-budget superhero games in the late 2000s and early 2010s with the release of a new brand of video games, starting with Batman: Arkham Asylum. This eventually spawned a multimedia line of video games and shows, among others. These are collectively known as the "Arkhamverse." But, in recent years, Warner Bros. hasn't released a big DC video game hit. On the other hand, Marvel, specifically, Spider-Man, has found success with the help of Insomniac Games. Thus, it's only fair to wonder if Warner Bros. is feeling the pressure and if it will look to the Big Blue Boy Scout for help in this regard.

A Superman game would make sense with the impending release of Superman: Legacy in 2025: a film that will kick off an interconnected story told through a combination of TV shows and movies, complete with live-action appearances from anyone between Batman (of course) and lesser known characters such as the Creature Commandos, among others. But if you ask JB Perrette, the Warner Bros. Discovery CEO of global streaming and gaming, making a Superman video game is not their priority.

Speaking to Variety, Perrette revealed that Warner Bros. won't launch a new Superman game out of obligation. Instead, its priority is "to do something that makes sense for the gaming strategy and for fans and for the consumer."
