Tony Stark, a character now forever synonymous with Robert Downey Jr., is almost never consciously evil. Unfortunately, his personality and actions almost always end up creating devastating consequences that arguably make him a villain in some ways. Vin Diesel, who’s a certified nerd, must know this because he just created the perfect role for the Iron Man star.
As part of the release of the official Fast X trailer, Diesel shared with Variety his idea for a role for RDJ, who he describes as the “antithesis of Dom.”
Here’s what Diesel said about RDJ’s potential character in Fast 11:
There’s a character, that – without telling you too much about what happens in the future – there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom, who is promoting AI an d driverless cars and a philosohpy that with that goes your freedom.
There is somebody that believes that’s the future and that’s at direct odds with the Torreto mentality.
When asked if Diesel has had a chance to pitch this role to the MCU legend, Diesel joked that he has “pride” and “dignity” albeit with a smile before walking away with a huge grin on his face.
After carrying the MCU on his back for more than a decade, RDJ deserves a break. We wouldn’t blame him if he went away from Hollywood for a while, if not forever, so he can lovingly tend to his massive Malibu estate that he’s since transformed into a wildlife sanctuary. But, if the itch to play Iron Man ever comes back, RDJ knows that Diesel’s got the perfect role for him.
All that’s left now is for RDJ to respond, accept, and give us the big-screen evil Iron Man fans desperately want to see ever since rumors of Tom Cruise playing Superior Iron Man in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness started life.
With that said, Fast 11 is likely still at least two years away, so it’s best that we focus on what’s ahead of us.
Fast X will bring back nearly every significant character from previous installments while also introducing new faces such as Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Alan Ritchson, and so much more.
After being hit by a lengthy delay, Fast X will hit theaters on May 19. Hopefully, by then, RDJ will have responded to Diesel publicly calling him out to join Fast 11.
