It's all come down to this. Eight heartwrenching and arguably award-winning episodes later, the first season of HBO's live-action adaptation of the award-winning Naughty Dog video game franchise is coming to an end.

So far, we've watched Joel and Ellie go from strangers to having each other's backs and forging a legitimate father-and-daughter bond. All the while, the two have survived whatever the cordyceps-borne apocalypse could throw at them.

Now, the end is near. Joel's goal from the start was always evident - to deliver Ellie to the Firefly base in hopes of creating a cure of vaccine using her immunity from the cordyceps infection. Ellie is well aware of this and she's a willing test subject. However, those who've played through The Last of Us Part 1 know full well that things aren't going to turn out exactly how you'd hoped they would.

Make sure to check out the trailer for The Last of Us' Season 1 finale.

Surprisingly, The Last of Us Episode 9 isn't the longest episode of the season - it's the shortest.
