In a move that's sure to delight fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, the developers, Tribute Games, and its publisher, Dotemu, have announced the release of the much-anticipated Dimension Shellshock DLC for the beat-em-up game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge.
The downloadable content, priced at $7.99, is set to launch on all platforms, including PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, on August 31.
Dimension Shellshock isn't just any DLC. It boasts a unique blend of nostalgia and innovation, as players are treated to a plethora of new features. At the center of the incoming expansion is a reality-bending Survival mode. Here, players can hop between various dimensions, each having its own distinctive ambiance and challenges. The goal for the DLC is to collect Dimension Crystals, either to unlock new realms or to acquire game-changing perks and mutations. If rumors are to be believed, players can expect to face off against the notorious supervillain Shredder, who's out to dominate the multiverse.
Adding to the excitement, two new playable characters are making their way into the game: Miyamoto Usagi and Karai.
Miyamoto Usagi, originating from his own comic series, Usagi Yojimbo, had previously taken a leap into the turtles' universe back in 1987. Wielding a samurai blade, the rabbit samurai adds a fresh flavor to the gameplay dynamics. On the other hand, Karai, a character introduced in 1992, brings her own brand of panache. Known for her quick wit and "signature snark", Karai, with her nimble ninjutsu skills, is poised to be a formidable addition to the team. Her intricate backstory with the Foot Clan, sometimes portrayed as Shredder's second-in-command or even his adopted daughter, provides an interesting dynamic within the Turtleverse. However, this former Foot Clan member's relationships are not always straightforward. Despite her past associations, she has occasionally allied with the turtles when mutual threats loomed large.
