Team Ninja confirms Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty release date

Wo Long's developers released a demo for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users in September, which got an 89% positive rating from over 80,000 player survey responses. This is an incredible feat that bodes well for Team Ninja.

During an interview with IGN, Yasuda stated:

Wo Long is more massive in scale compared to our previous games set in Japan, which allowed us to show a more severe and dark world. The same can be said for the difficulty. There's no doubt this will be an extremely challenging and demanding game, but we've come up with new ways to approach that difficulty. Making it a challenging game was something we had decided from the beginning. With all the legendary heroes of the Three Kingdoms period, it can come across as somewhat campy, but in reality, it was a time of war and devastation. It was a dark period in which people were constantly fighting, which is a great match for a Soulslike game.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is the first title from Team Ninja since it launched Nioh and Nioh 2 in 2017 and 2020, respectively. It's set in China's Three Kingdoms period and combines real historical events with supernatural scenery as well as creatures from Chinese mythology. It follows a nameless soldier who must fight and defeat monsters and demons using true traditional Chinese martial arts in a dark fantasy world."

Aside from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Team Ninja is also working on a PS5-exclusive game, Rise of the Ronin, which has been described as Assassin's Creed but set in Japan. On the other hand, Koei Tecmo and EA have teamed up for the upcoming Monster Hunter rival, Wild Hearts.
