February is shaping up to be the flashiest month of the year so far. On February 29, Square Enix will release the second installment in the ongoing Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. Ahead of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s release, the developers have ramped up the marketing machine, revealing several details about the game, including a pair of demos.
FF7 Rebirth will bring back a similar combat system from the first game but tweaked it with additional abilities, fighting styles, and “synergy skills” that see multiple party members team-up for a single devastating attack.
And, oh, just in case you missed it, FF7 Rebirth will have two demos.
On February 6, Square released the first demo for FF7 Rebirth, taking players on a surprising adventure that sees Cloud Strife and Sephiroth team up. The Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim lasts for nearly two hours, which is plenty enough time to get yourself acquainted with the sequel. If it isn’t enough, Square released a recap trailer to get you up to speed. But that’s not all. A second demo for FF7 Rebirth is on its way. Similar to the first one, it will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 and will likely not be time-limited.
Unlike the more linear style of exploration in the first demo for FF7 Rebirth, the next demo is going to let players explore a bit of the open world, including a portion of Junon – a major hub in the sequel and the original 1997 game.
It certainly seems like Square wants to make sure that everyone knows FF7 Rebirth is coming out on February 29, including those that are outside of the usual target audiences.
By offering multiple demos for FF7 Rebirth, the developers are increasing the likelihood that players will pre-order and buy the game.
If you’re new to the series or you’ve only played the original Final Fantasy 7, Square will offer fantastic deal by letting you get a free copy of FF7 Remake bundled with FF7 Rebirth. As an added incentive, those with completed saves of FF7 Remake will receive bonus equipment in FF7 Rebirth. Unfortunately, progress and equipment from FF7 Remake will not carry over to FF7 Rebirth.
