Sony Japan reveals FF16-themed accessories for the PS5

There's no word yet if the custom-themed PlayStation 5 console cover and DualSense will be released outside of Japan.

Now that Sony is no longer struggling to manufacture enough PS5s, its confident enough to start releasing game-themed console covers.

Sony might not have bought Square Enix yet but the two are closely linked. Square Enix’s biggest titles are often released exclusively on a Sony platform. The latest is Final Fantasy XVI. Like its predecessor, Final Fantasy XV, Sony and Square Enix have linked up for a custom-themed PS5 bundle.

The upcoming FF16 bundle, like the custom-themed Lebron PS5 cover and DualSense, will include a unique cover and the DualSense. PlayStation Japan confirmed this earlier in the week, and it seems that neither the DualSense nor the cover are coming to other regions.

At the moment, the only bundle confirmed for the United States and other countries is the Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 Bundle. The said hardware package will launch on June 22, in time for the game’s release date, with pre-orders coming out on May 4. Unlike the currently Japan-exclusive themed PS5 cover and DualSense, this bundle will only include a digital copy of Final Fantasy XVI.

Hopefully, Sony will make these options available to regions outside of Japan. For now, Final Fantasy fans can’t help but feel jealous.

The rest of the world will have to make do with a non-themed FF16 PS5 bundle.

Until Sony releases a proper custom-themed PlayStation 5, console covers are the best way to celebrate some of the biggest exclusives coming to the PlayStation 5. Surprisingly enough, this marks the first game-themed console cover Sony will release for the PS5. This only signifies just how big of a deal Final Fantasy XVI is for the flagship console. But, we can’t deny that we’re secretly hoping that Sony has one cooked up for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is supposedly scheduled for release later this year.

Speaking of, it still isn’t clear if Final Fantasy XVI is headed to the PC after its exclusivity window with the PS5 has expired. But, one thing for sure is that it’s not coming to the Xbox Series S/X.
