Just when you thought that the previously announced (and oft-out-of-stock) Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 themed PlayStation 5 bundles was it, Sony decided to double down on its upcoming exclusive.
As with previous AAA exclusives, Sony is releasing a new PS5 console bundle that comes with a copy of the much-awaited sequel on October 20.
This is different from the aforementioned special edition PS5 that featured custom-themed DualSense controllers and faceplates for the console. Instead, it will be a more plainly-designed PS5 console albeit with a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Sony showed off the upcoming PS5 console bundle on social media accounts, confirming that the standard edition PS5 console will hit store shelves on the same day that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 swings into action. Sony didn’t initially include a price for the bundle at the time of its announcement.
After Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield enjoyed the spotlight, it’s time for Peter Parker and Miles Morales to crawl and swing into action for the PlayStation. Unlike Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which had featured Peter Parker and Miles Morales, respectively, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will see both in action simultaneously. While it isn’t a co-op game, Insomniac Games designed the sequel so that the two Spider-Man have complementary abilities. It will also borrow a popular mechanic from Grand Theft Auto V by letting players switch between Peter and Miles on the fly. Finally, Insomniac has confirmed that the “other” Spider-Man will swing around all over the city and stop crime while players are busy doing their own thing.
Aside from seeing Peter and Miles team up, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature an entirely new set of villains for these two to fight off, headlined by none other than the iconic alien Symbiote, Venom, and Kraven the Hunter.
Unfortunately, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 leaks have spread online, starting with its main menu screen and how long it will take to get the Platinum Trophy for the game. Insomniac Games is warning fans to avoid the internet in the meantime to avoid spoilers.
Sony had revealed its plans earlier this year to sell 25 million PlayStation 5 units this fiscal year. So far, it’s on track to meet the said expectations after giving the PS5 a hefty price cut. Sony even has a tight loophole for players to exploit if they want to get at least one copy of either Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Players can technically get this newly unveiled bundle and take advantage of the one free game Sony is giving away until 3:00 AM ET on October 21.
Sony is set to undergo a transformational period once this fiscal year ends with Jim Ryan set to resign from his position as CEO and President in March 2024. Before Ryan will step down, the PS5 will welcome Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Additionally, the PC port of Horizon Forbidden West is coming out in early 2024, months after it hits the PS5 on October 5. Finally, there are reports of discontent within PlayStation Studios about the live-service direction taken by the company following its acquisition of Bungie.
