The Harry Potter franchise is one of the most popular and lucrative franchises in the world with films, theme parks, collectibles, and much more, arising from the J. K. Rowling-authored novels. The franchise is expanding still with another video game, Hogwarts Legacy, arriving in February.

Ahead of the game's release, Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software have released a trailer that unveils some of its voice actors with Simon Pegg, famous for his role in the Mission Impossible and Star Trek series, being one of the most notable names. There have been several trailers before this, including a gameplay showcase released in November 2022.

In Hogwarts Legacy, Pegg will voice Phineas Nigellus Black, the headmaster of Hogwarts and great-great-grandfather of Harry Potter's godfather Sirius Black as well as Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy. Pegg describes his character as the least popular headmaster in the history of Hogwarts. He goes on to say that Black is pompous and disinterested in his role as headmaster but accepted it only because of the associated prestige.

In his words, "I don't think he has any interest in children's education or being in any way a role model. What he wants is the kudos of being the headmaster of the greatest wizarding school in the world. He's just a bit of an idiot, really." Pegg goes on to describe Phineas Black as the opposite of Sirius Black stating, "He's not noble, he's not brave, he's just a self-interested fool." He also gives an insight into the character's role in the game stating that he serves as both "a sort of help and a hindrance to the players who are working their way through the game."
