Hogwarts Legacy releases a new gameplay showcase

The new video shows off the character creator, combat, and the Hufflepuff Common Room.

Potterheads have been wishing to get ahold of the magical time-traveling device, Time-Turner, for the better part of the past three years and the latest trailer for Hogwarts Legacy will only make them want one even more.

Avalanche Software and Portkey Games released a new gameplay showcase for Hogwarts Legacy.

The open-world action RPG was originally slated for a late 2022 release before Warner Bros. Discovery pushed back its release date to February.

To give Potterheads something to chew on in the meantime, Hogwarts Legacy just got a 45-minute gameplay showcase for fans who have been eagerly waiting for the game to launch. Avalanche Community Manager, Chandler Wood, and guest host, James Whitehead, of XpectoGo, hosted the video showcase. Game Director Alan Tew and Senior Environment Artist Boston Madsen also joined in on the fun and shared details about the game.

The Hogwarts Legacy showcase reveals details about the character creator, combat, UI, and the game environment. Some key details about the gameplay were teased in the footage shown.

The video starts off with Hogwarts Legacy's much-hyped character creator that lets players customize everything about their in-game character from the face shapes all the way down to their voices. The avatar can also have a number of 1800s-themed accessories.

The gameplay footage showed off the rich environment that goes beyond the books and movies.

The showcase then moves to the Common Room of the player's chosen house, Hufflepuff. Players can explore the interior of the living space of the students belonging to the house. Gamers also got a sneak peek into some of the environs present in the game. Hardcore Potterheads can also spot iconic features such as the grand staircases and hourglasses for each house. This just goes to show just how much effort the developers put into sprinkling in all the minute details inside Hogwarts.

Speaking of, Hogwarts Legacy is a graphically impressive game and the corridors are all full of students, which only adds to the immersion factor. Players are free to explore as well as interact with the environment as well as the other students and even get side-quests from them.

The latest Hogwarts Legacy showcase revealed details about the choice-based mechanic that has been implemented in Hogwarts Legacy. Player choices impact the world and how the story unfolds for the character.

The wizard combat looks impressive and smooth.

The main highlight of the showcase is the combat system. The video shows off how the player can control the character in combat including the targeting system and the icons to identify the right spells to cast. The system allows the character to cast a combination of spells to deal a massive amount of damage.

The Hogwarts Legacy showcase capped off the video with a Q&A session with the team behind the game.

Hogwarts Legacy will arrive on February 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Nintendo Switch version will be released at a later date. There are a number of pre-order options should you choose to purchase the game ahead.
