Red Dead Redemption 2, since its 2018 release, has stood as a paragon in the realm of video games. It’s not just another game but a masterpiece that captures the sheer essence of what storytelling in gaming should be. Notably, this creation by Rockstar mesmerized millions with its breathtaking visuals and enthralling gameplay.
No wonder folks are on the edge of their seats, with their trigger fingers eager to point at every rumor that’s related to the franchise, which recently saw Red Dead Redemption make its arrival on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
Now, while the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and, to some extent, Google Stadia have all been treated with this gem of a sequel, questions are being raised about its appearance on the Nintendo Switch – a console boasting a whopping sales figure of over 120 million. The Switch community deserves to experience the frontier life, don’t they?

Here’s where the plot thickens: A post recently surfaced, revealing that Red Dead Redemption 2 received a rating for the Nintendo Switch in Brazil.
Now, to the layman, this could seem like the hint we’ve all been waiting for. But hold your horses! It may very well be smoke without fire, especially given the game’s high graphics requirements and the Switch’s relatively limited hardware. Don’t forget, NetherRealm Studios still hasn’t fixed the brutalized mess that is Mortal Kombat 1 on the hybrid platform.
But let’s step back for a moment and consider another angle. If, and it’s a big if, Rockstar pulls this off and brings a title like Red Dead Redemption 2 to the Nintendo Switch, it would certainly set a benchmark. Other developers might want to rethink their excuses for underwhelming graphics or, better yet, for not bringing their games to the supposedly outgoing console.
On the flip side, there are challenges. Rumor mills suggest that Rockstar is neck-deep in GTA 6’s development, and let’s not forget the hushed whispers about them shelving their original plans to port Red Dead Redemption 2 to the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series S/X in favor of working on the next GTA title.
With Red Dead Online all but dead at this point, it certainly feels like Rockstar has shifted its focus away from the Red Dead universe. At least, for now.
Then again, a listing is a listing, and it’s as official of a proof as can get. The fact remains that this information appeared on a country’s regulatory body. At best, fans may want to keep a close eye on the classification boards from other countries like South Korea, for example, within the next few weeks or months.
For now, it’s best not to throw caution to the wind yet and keep this squarely in rumor territory.
What’s confirmed though is that Rockstar has its eyes set on Red Dead Redemption 3 already albeit not anytime soon. Finally, Rockstar is giving away a controversial trio of classic titles to GTA+ members.
