James Gunn, the creator and director of Peacemaker, inadvertently announced that Peacemaker season 2 will start filming in a few months while wishing his friend and actor, Danielle Brooks, a happy birthday. Gunn shared several behind-the-scenes photos of Brooks on Twitter with the caption, "Happy Birthday, @thedanieb! Love you and looking forward to hanging with you again, on set & off, in just a few months!"
While the caption does not explicitly announce Peacemaker season 2's production date, the phrase "in just a few months" indicates Gunn and Brooks will be back together filming the second season of Peacemaker sooner rather than later.
Made for HBO Max Series, Peacemaker is a DCEU spin-off from The Suicide Squad. It follows the adventures of the titular hero, Peacemaker, on another A. R. G. U. S. mission to identify and eliminate parasitic aliens that look like butterflies. Except these aliens take over human bodies.
The show stars John Cena as Christopher "Peacemaker" Smith. It also stars Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. Other cast members include Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick as August "Auggie" Smith or White Dragon, Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Mum, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase (Vigilante), Annie Chang as Sophie Song, Nhut Le as Judomaster, and Lochlyn Munro as Larry Fitzgibbon.
