The next Forza Motorsport probably is not going to be next-gen only

Right now, the racer has only been confirmed for Microsoft's latest pair of consoles, the Xbox Series S/X.

Forza Motorsport 8 will go head-to-head with the controversial Gran Turismo 7 later this year.

It appears that Forza Motorsport isn’t quite ready to move on and be next-gen exclusive just yet.

According to internet sleuths over at Reddit, images of the next Forza Motorsport game running on an Xbox One are proof that Turn 10 Studios’ racing sim isn’t exclusive to the Xbox Series S/X.

While anyone can claim to have access to legitimate images, the fact that the post is still up right now adds credence to the claims. In addition, Microsoft is aware of the dismal state of stock availability for the Xbox Series S/X. With Forza Motorsport 8 arriving later this year, Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios might want to replicate the success of Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 5, which set a new Xbox Game Studios record.

The best way to draw in a huge crowd for the next Forza Motorsport installment is to make it available to everyone and an Xbox One release is a sure-fire way to do it.

Of course, just because a game is running on an older console doesn’t necessarily mean we are going to see it on the said console. Case in point, Demon’s Souls. Fans spotted a PS4 version of the Bluepoint Games remake of the classic FromSoftware Games title inside the PlayStation Database. However, we haven’t heard about a potential PS4 port of the PS5 exclusive game since. It’s believed that the only reason why the PS4 build of Demon’s Souls exists is for playtesting.

Don't get your hopes too high up for an Xbox One version of Forza Motorsport 8.

It’s worth noting that both Demon’s Souls and Forza Motorsport 8 are billed as next-gen exclusives.

The good news is that fans won’t have to wait long to find out more about the next Forza Motorsport game. Microsoft is expected to hold a showcase in June. Fingers crossed, we’ll hear more about Turn 10 Studios’ award-winning racer by then.
