Multiversus is shutting down its Early Access Open Beta in a few months to make way for further development leading to its full launch in 2024.
Developed by Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games, MultiVersus is a crossover fighting game that pits characters from various Warner Bros. franchises against each other. Similar to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. titles, MultiVersus has a cartoony and light-hearted tone compared to other fighting games such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.
The announcement of the MultiVersus Open Beta shut down was posted on the game's official website and shared on social media.
On the blog post, Player First Games co-founder and CEO Tony Huynh announced the open beta shutdown and thanked players:
We've been excited to see the interest and enthusiasm from the community and your feedback has been invaluable. We continue to be humbled by the awards the game has received and excited to see the enjoyment that MultiVersus has brought to players. Throughout our Open Beta, we've been working hard to build the best gameplay experience, and we appreciate all of the inspiration you've given us. Our Open Beta has been an important learning opportunity for us and a stepping stone to the next phase of MultiVersus.
