Metro Exodus is about to get a lot better.

The game's developers, 4A Games, have revealed just what kind of next-gen enhancements they plan on adding to Metro Exodus, so that the game can take better advantage of the more powerful hardware of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, as well as PCs.

Metro Exodus serves as the third title in the Metro video game franchise. It is preceded by Metro: Last Light and Metro 2033.

One of the biggest features of Metro Exodus was ray tracing.

The game was one of the first few titles on the PC to take advantage of this technology and it gave gamers a glimpse of the kind of graphics that gamers should expect from next-gen titles going forward.

With the latest update, this feature will be made available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of the game.

Perhaps more importantly, the developers claim that the game will still run at 4K resolution, at a smooth 60 frames per second. This is despite the ray-tracing feature being turned on. Not to mention, both consoles' faster SSD storage drives means that Metro Exodus will load significantly faster once the new update arrives.
