The DC Universe doesn't have a Batman (nor a Superman), but Matt Reeves' Batman is here to stay. Specifically, the director of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson is now referring to his pocket of comic book movies as the "BatVerse."
In an interview with Collider, Reeves revealed that the BatVerse will continue to exist separate from what the universe James Gunn is building, saying: They [Gunn and Safran] have been great. [...] We're actually supposed to meet in the next few weeks because they want to talk to me about the broad plan, and then they want to hear the BatVerse plan. We're just getting together to talk about all of that. Look, I'm excited to hear what they're going to do. The BatVerse thing, as James has said, and as Peter has said, is kind of its own thing they're letting us do. Last year's The Batman was one of the biggest films of the COVID-19 pandemic era of movies. It eventually closed out a critically-acclaimed theatrical run with close to $800 million at the global box office.
It ended up getting a sequel as well as spin-offs starring Colin Farrell's Penguin and another one that will reportedly revolve around Arkham Asylum. It's believed a different film featuring the Gotham PD is in development as well.
