Praise the Sun, Lies of P has officially gone gold

Lies of P isn't quite like a Dark Souls or Bloodborne but it's a mix of a little of both, leaning more towards the latter.

Lies of P will scratch that Bloodborne-sized itch that you've been longing to get rid of for years.

We know, wrong game, but could you blame us? Lies of P isn’t afraid to wear its inspiration on its sleeve, as it should. If you’re going to imitate a game, you might as well take inspiration from one of the genre-spawning Bloodborne titles.

Lies of P, which is currently scheduled for a September 19 release – the same day that Mortal Kombat 1 comes out -, has now officially gone gold, an accolade in the gaming world marking the end of the development phase.

This announcement proves that Lies of P is now ready to play as is at the very moment, capable of providing a deep and immersive experience.

Set against the backdrop of the once-majestic city of Krat, the game offers a somber journey through its plague-ridden streets. Players will assume the role of Pinocchio, traversing this desolate, gothic world in search of Mr. Geppetto, while also hoping to unravel the enigma that has befallen Krat. The city’s eerie aesthetics, reminiscent of Bloodborne, create an atmosphere of unease. Yet, it’s this very setting that intrigues and draws players in.

The dark rendition of Pinocchio’s tale isn’t just about navigating Krat’s ominous streets. Players will face off against this world’s demonic adversaries, crafting weapons and items to aid in their quest. But Lies of P introduces a novel feature – lying. True to Pinocchio’s essence, the more he lies, the more human he becomes. This human metamorphosis comes with both perks and pitfalls, ensuring players remain on their toes with every decision they make.

Recent demos have only heightened the anticipation. Those who’ve had a glimpse of the game laud its rich visuals and atmospheric depth. The first few hours hint at a narrative that’s not just engaging but also replete with choices, potentially giving the game a high replay value.

Judging from the way that those who’ve played the demo are describing Lies of P, it wouldn’t surprise us if Neowiz confirms a sequel to Lies of P soon.

For those already invested in Xbox Game Pass, there’s additional good news. Lies of P will be available on the platform from day one. Meanwhile, players who opt for the Deluxe Edition pre-order are in for a treat with 72 hours of early access, starting from September 16. This package also includes a cheeky “Mischievous Puppet” outfit, a nod to the game’s central character. And while there are some debates on its appeal versus the early access, it certainly adds a whimsical touch to an otherwise bleak game environment.

There are murmurings in the gaming community, drawing parallels between Lies of P and fan-favorite Bloodborne. With no confirmed remaster or remake for the latter on the horizon – technically, there’s a PlayStation 5 update but it’s not available to the public – Lies of P opportunistically addresses a longing among soulslike aficionados.

While some opine that the game’s launch could have been slated for August, market dynamics seem to have influenced its September debut. This move positions it close to other anticipated releases like Starfield and Mortal Kombat 1, potentially making September a month of gaming extravaganza, much like this month.

Lies of P continues a months-long trend of big games coming out this year.

Whether you’re a fan of the genre, intrigued by the narrative, or just seeking a new gaming adventure, don’t forget to circle September 19 on your calendar.
