In Techland's post-apocalyptic parkour-infused survival horror sequel, Dying Light 2, evidence of an unused yet intriguing gameplay mechanic that players could soon get to experience has been found.
Although the current version doesn't feature horse riding, a recent leak suggests it could be introduced in a future DLC expansion.
The revelation comes from a curious Reddit user, Ghostspider1989, who was navigating the Dying Light 2 config files with an intention to modify their in-game controls. While perusing the files, they stumbled upon several references linked to a horse riding mechanic. The commands ranged from generic movements like galloping and directional controls to more advanced actions such as increasing max speed and deceleration.
Although Villedor, the walled city where the game takes place, doesn't offer any interaction with horses, the world does include detailed horse models. This has spurred speculation among fans, who are excited at the prospect of a horse-riding DLC akin to the vehicular zombie-smashing expansion in the original Dying Light game. Many are even fantasizing about a Red Dead Redemption 2 style system where players could form a bond with their horses, making their potential loss all the more poignant.
