Sony has never been one to cede the spotlight to other companies. After dropping out of E3 permanently a few years ago, Sony took eyeballs away from the formerly annual event by holding its own all-digital State of Play showcase. So, it shouldn't surprise anyone if Sony will hold another State of Play showcase next month.

If we're being honest, Sony was a little light on new games at its most recent exhibition. By far, the main highlight was the Resident Evil 4 Remake and Marvel's Spider-Man PC port. However, it didn't have a first-party title at all. Some are saying that God of War: Ragnarok was supposed to be there but Sony changed its plans last minute. If you think about it, it would make sense after all that happened over the past few weeks before Sony went ahead and revealed the release date for the God of War sequel.

Theories aside, we don't think Sony will let Gamescom enjoy the attention next month and it appears that an insider has info that corroborates this educated guess.
