Konami officially announced that the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 is in development. Since then, fans of the series have been wondering if Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima will be returning for the remake.
Unfortunately, fans hoping for the return of the enigmatic auteur will find themselves disappointed with Konami's recent revelation.
Konami has confirmed to IGN that both Kojima and Metal Gear artistic collaborator Yoji Shinkawa aren't involved in the development of the remake.
"They are not involved," a Konami spokesperson confirmed. However, the development team will work hard to create this remake and also the ports--for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection--so that they can be enjoyed on multiple platforms by even more players all around the world.
The studio confirmed that the "central role" will be taken by Konami developers who have been "involved in the production of the past [games in the] Metal Gear series." Konami will be collaborating with Virtuos, a studio that was "involved in the production of previous entries in the Metal Gear series." A previous leak pointed to Virtuos as the studio working on the Metal Gear remake.
